TECHNOLOGY
The COR–KNOT® system is a pioneering automated system for placing and supporting sutures. That is, it ties the knots of the sutures and cuts their excess ends automatically, offering fast, safe and reliable support of the sutures to prosthetic valves or plastic rings.

The COR-KNOT® system consists of:
1. Το COR-KNOT® QUICK LOAD®
(loading system)
It is a sterile disposable loop which consists of the following parts:
-A clip securing and retaining the sutures, which will be folded inside the axis of the device. It is made of titanium and has a hollow housing while maintaining a very low profile.
-A purple plastic loop to provide easy hand hold.
-A snare wire inside the loop to help guide the suture into the shaft.
-A small curved retaining handle (blunt tip) for easy passage through the shaft hole.
2. COR-KNOT® Device
It is a sterile, single-use device in the shape of a pistol. At one end of its shaft the COR-KNOT® QUICK LOAD® is loaded through a hole, and the other end consists of a white handle with a purple lever, which when pressed releases the crimped-in clip device to lock and hold the sutures. The axis of the device has a diameter of 5mm and a length of 31cm when used in minimally invasive or endoscopic cardiac surgery cases or 4mm and 17cm respectively when used in open heart surgeries.
